Mad Cow Films director Floris Ramaekers has collaborated with Krow Group on Part of the Team, a powerful new campaign film for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF).
Directed with emotional clarity and restraint, the film explores the true meaning and importance of donation.
"Krow had developed a powerful core concept in which our protagonist donates money and is immediately transported to the operating table of an MSF operation. The idea being that a donation to MSF has an immediate, tangible impact on what doctors are doing on the front lines" says Floris.
Reframing supporters not as distant contributors, but as an integral part of the MSF teams saving lives across the world. Rather than focusing on numbers or logistics, Part of the Team centres on human connection, empathy and shared purpose.
"The opportunity to make a film for a charity like MSF was such a rare find, and one I wouldn’t hesitate to take. Especially given how open, collaborative, and genuinely curious both the charity and the agency were about creating something different from the typical charity film."
The film captures the emotional heart of MSF’s mission, reminding audiences that behind every donation is a person choosing to stand alongside frontline workers in some of the world’s most challenging environments.
"I wanted to fully capitalise on the immediacy and visceral sensation of the donor being pulled into this journey alongside the patient and the doctors. I love using fundamental filmmaking techniques to tell stories as clearly and effectively as possible, so we decided to shoot the entire film in a studio using only practical lighting. The story unfolds by simply turning one light off and revealing the next beat by turning another on, all choreographed within long continuous takes that we rehearsed and refined on the day until every department was working in complete harmony."
Working closely with Krow London, Ramaekers and the creative team crafted a piece that balances sensitivity with impact, allowing moments of quiet humanity to speak as loudly as the message itself.
"Everyone involved, the crew, Mad Cow, Krow, the editor, Creative Outpost (post prod) and MSF, knew we were trying to create something special on a very limited budget. The level of passion and commitment across the set was something I usually only experience on short films or features. To feel that kind of energy on a commercial was genuinely special.
Thank you to MSF for trusting us with this film."
